DISCOVERING EUROPE TOGETHER – BUCHAREST
(DESCOPERIM EUROPA ÎMPREUNĂ – BUCUREȘTI)
Babilon Travel NGO completes the project DEI – Bucharest as part of the international programme entitled “Descoperim Europa Impreuna” (“Discovering Europe Together”), project which takes place between 1st October – 30thNovember 2016.
The DEI programme DEI is a direct result of the international project “Value the Difference”, coordinated by Babilon Travel NGO and subsidized by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.
The aim of this project is to build the necessary bridges between the young people with or without visual impairments from both Romania and other countries, so that they could get to know each other better, explore together the differences between their countries of origin, to learn and practice cooperation and to eliminate the barriers that separate them and which are usually set up out of ignorance, lack of information, fear or even by their own communities.
In order to achieve the targeted goal, the program will implement a number of projects, each of them being centered on discovering a European capital by a mixed group made of 18 youngsters, with or without visual impairments/blind.
All the activities related to the DEI program will take place in a non-formal learning environment, using outdoor activities extensively as appropriate tools for the social inclusion. The program will also massively practice some intercultural learning devices and, due to its set objectives, will develop among the participants the European and active citizenship spirit. All the activities will be suitable for the young people with or without visual impairments.
The first project from the DEI programme aims at creating a mixed group of 18 young people with or without visual impairments / blind from the 9-12 grades of the Special High School for Visually Impaired Students (LSDV) from Cluj-Napoca and those from “Onisifor Ghibu” High School (LOG). These selected students will take part in various activities together, culminating with the three – day discovery of our capital city, Bucharest, and of the Peles Castle from Sinaia.
The members of the project team are the following: Gabriel Nagy, prof. Carmen Trașcă, prof. Lavinia Mateuț, prof. Maria Mosora, Laura Manache.
